Currently he is a senior manager in charge as head of maintenance of the most extensive Italian wind portfolio with ERG Power Generation, the asset company owned by ERG SpA, an Independent Power Producer 100% from renewable sources.

He is leading an organization of skilled technicians, coordinators and back office employees, operating around 1GW which have as target the full maintenance services, including BoP, on the whole Italian fleet of ERG, which is constituted by around 1000 WTG of different size, type and brand, out of Vestas, Nordex and Senvion.

Initially in an integrity role focusing on the UK fleet then spent three years in Offshore construction in the area of offshore foundations.  Specifically investigating the issues relating to the industry wide grouted connection design issue, developing a mitigation solution and then project managed the offshore construction campaign.

Current role is in the central Asset Management department and covers the whole of EC&R assets

Marco has a degree and a PhD in industrial engineering. He started in the wind business of ERG in European Asset Management, coming from the oil refining business. Currently he is leading the Production Optimization dept. focused on the predictive maintenance on ERG Assets all around Europe. The predictive maintenance concept inside ERG Power Generation starts with the monitoring of the CMS and SCADA, but also involves the complete chain, including: on site endoscope and vibration inspections, spare parts management and ordinary and extraordinary maintenance: all these activities and skills are completely integrated and internalized inside ERG Power Generation. In this way EPG operates and maintains his complete fleet in Italy and of a large part of the European fleet.

Mr Raftery previously served as Offshore General Manager for SSE Renewables where he had responsibility for offshore wind, wave and tidal sites totalling 6.5 GW (net) and SSE's share of the Walney offshore wind project (367 MW). From 2005 to 2008 Mr Raftery was Head of Technical for Airtricity responsible for global Engineering and wind resource assessment activities. Melissa led the development of Accenture’s Clean Energy and Unconventionals practices and Accenture’s PoVs on Natural Gas/LNG. She is now the Global Lead for Renewables.

Melissa has authored more than 40 papers and articles over the last 10 years. Her latest paper, “New Value New Prospects: The Future of Onshore Wind Operations and Maintenance”, was released in May 2017. She has presented her papers at Energy conferences around the world, including US, Canada, UK, Netherlands, France, Spain, Poland, Germany, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, South Korea, China, Russia, and Argentina.

Melissa has a MBA with Distinction (Honours) in Transportation Management from Northwestern University where was the recipient of Transportation Management Top Student Award. She also has a BSc (Honours) in Finance from the Haas School at the University of California at Berkeley where was the recipient of the Finance Award. Melissa has served as Assistant Chair of Technology for the US National Petroleum Council study, Advancing Technology for America’s Transportation Future. She is a Fellow of the Energy Institute.
